Amber Wright
Vice-President

Amber has a BS in Accounting and has spent more than 20 years working as an accountant and consultant to the Federal Government in the D.C. area. Realizing that she also has a passion for teaching, she started her own small business that focuses on helping other small businesses learn the basics of bookkeeping including why it’s important, and tools they can use to make it more efficient so that they can spend more time on doing what they love.

She is also the mother of two daughters who felt drawn to become a birth doula after the birth of her children: the first without a doula and the second with one.  It was her second experience that helped her to realize how important a doula is, and she worked with D.C. Birth Doulas for 3 years until she relocated her family to Fredericksburg.  While her calling to be a childbirth worker is still strong, she now uses her knowledge to teach Childbirth Education, Postpartum Preparation, Newborn Care, and Infant Feeding classes.

Amber has always loved to give back through volunteering and has lent her skills and services to several organizations including as a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts, an Instructor for the American Red Cross, a Finance Park Volunteer for Junior Achievement, a Tax Preparer for Community Tax Aid, and her all-time favorite, Volunteer Coordinator and Backstage Volunteer at UCPA.  In her spare time, which is rare, she loves to line dance, research her family’s genealogy, and spend quality time with her family and friends.
